Ethereum has launched a testnet to test the withdrawal of the ETH from the Beacon Chain

On February 1st at 15:00 UTC, the Zhejiang testnet was launched. It simulates ETH’s withdrawal from the Beacon Chain stacking contract. The functionality is foreseen in EIP-4895, which is in the pipeline for the next Shanghai hardfork of the Ethereum network.

On February 7, Zhejiang will hold a hardfork that will activate EIP-4895. At the moment, users will only be able to deposit ETH.

Earlier, the developers launched devnet to test the function of cryptocurrency withdrawal by validators from the deposit contract.

On January 24, the Ethereum team successfully implemented a shadow fork of Shanghai to test the impact of the planned update on the main network.

As a reminder, the developers named March 2023 as the tentative deadline for the Shanghai mainnet hardfork.
