The developers talked about the future possibilities of the MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet. They assured that this product will eventually ensure the prosperity of multichains. It will be able to support any blockchain and integrate all kinds of tokens through snaps. This development will make it possible to work with multiple networks and greatly expand the functionality of the browser-based service.
In this way, the developers plan to contribute to the scaling and mass implementation of Web3 technologies. Details of the latest addition to the growing MetaMask ecosystem were revealed at the StarkWare Sessions event in Tel Aviv, Israel. A senior product manager for MetaMask Snaps said, “Over the past 18 months, development of the project has accelerated significantly following the success of MetaMask Swaps. This tool brought token swapping functionality to a browser extension.
Jupiter stressed that interoperability is becoming increasingly important in the blockchain space. “MetaMask has historically been a wallet for Ethereum. But we need to move beyond that. The future of multichains has become clear,” the developer assured.
Thanks to Snaps, the wallet’s creators will be able to create a free ecosystem where developers can extend and scale MetaMask in any way they see fit.
The team will seek to create an environment in which programmers can use different application programming interfaces (APIs) from different blockchain networks to add additional features for users.
According to Jupiter, Snaps is capable of integrating with most blockchain protocols. He noted that “technically, we can connect them all. We’ve been able to expand to bitcoin and StarkNet. So it should be possible with any network.” He noted that MetaMask could be a core experience in the Web3 space.
